Reflections on the progress of the Tate & Lyle and CP Kelco combination

Celebrating a year of partnership, innovation and shared success in shaping the future of food and beverage solutions

A year ago, Tate & Lyle and CP Kelco joined forces. This combination was not just about bringing together two businesses; it was about forging a new organisation with a unique portfolio of ingredients and solutions capabilities. With a leading position across sweetening, mouthfeel and fortification, the combined business is perfectly positioned to support customers as they look to meet growing global consumer demand for healthier, tastier and more sustainable food and drink.

Today’s consumers are seeking foods with less sugar, fewer calories, cleaner labels, and improved nutrition, without compromising on taste or texture. Manufacturers, meanwhile, face mounting costs, regulatory pressures, and an urgent need for innovation. By uniting Tate & Lyle’s expertise in sweetening and fortification with CP Kelco’s strengths in texture and stabilisation, we’re delivering holistic solutions that address these demands head-on.

Our progress over the last 12 months is testament to the power of collaboration. We’ve deepened customer partnerships across categories - from dairy and beverages to bakery and snacks. The cross-selling pipeline has grown by 175% in Q2, now valued at approximately $60 million1. Innovation is driving forward, with new product revenue up 55%2, driven by our joint capability to solve complex formulation challenges, such as enhancing mouthfeel in high-protein shakes and developing cost-effective solutions for granola bars. On top of this, we’ve already delivered $30 million3 in cost synergies, ahead of our initial targets.

The food industry continues to evolve rapidly, shaped by shifting consumer behaviours, the rise of anti-obesity medication, increased scrutiny of ultra-processed foods, and a global push for healthier diets. Sustainability continues to remain at the forefront4. Thanks to our science-driven and purpose led approach and our global reach, we are well positioned to help customers navigate these trends and create products that are better for both people and the planet.

Our purpose at Tate & Lyle is simple yet powerful: Transforming Lives through the Science of Food. The combination with CP Kelco has further enabled us to bring that purpose to life every day, from improving the mouthfeel of a customers’ protein shakes using our gellan gum, to fortifying gummies with our fibre and to make them sugar-free. We continue to help our customers make food and drink healthier and more sustainable.

None of this would be possible without the dedication and expertise of our combined teams. Over the past year, colleagues across Tate & Lyle have worked tirelessly to integrate operations, share knowledge, and deliver for our customers. Their commitment has been instrumental in our success.

We also extend our thanks to our customers and partners for their trust and collaboration. Looking ahead, our focus remains firmly on growth and innovation. We will continue to invest in science and technology to ensure we stay at the forefront of food and beverage solutions. Our ambition is to help our customers meet today’s consumer needs while anticipating the trends of tomorrow.

As we embark on the next chapter, it’s clear that this combination is more than a milestone - it’s a catalyst for positive change. Together, we’re building a business that’s making an even more meaningful difference in the world.
