Marietta Sayegh, PhD, RNutr (Nutrition Science)
Nutrition Business Partner, EMEA

Marietta believes nutrition should be practical, accessible, and shaped by real-world science, and that research only has impact when it is communicated in a way people can use. As Nutrition Business Partner for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Tate & Lyle, she translates emerging scientific evidence into actionable insights for internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders. Marietta also works closely with the Regulatory Affairs team to substantiate health claims and contributes to the creation of science-based communications supporting nutrition, health, and wellness initiatives.

Her passion is rooted in her research experience. During her PhD in Human Nutrition at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, she explored why individuals respond differently to the same foods, strengthening her belief that there is no “one size fits all” approach to metabolic health and that nutrition strategies must be both evidence-based and adaptable to diverse consumer needs. Before joining Tate & Lyle, she was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Aberdeen, leading projects on nutrition, sustainability and food security in Scotland.

In 2025, Marietta was shortlisted for the Registered Nutritionist of the Year Award, in acknowledgement of her contributions to applied nutrition science, particularly her work translating complex evidence into practical tools for customers, driving fibre education within the industry, and supporting nutrition literacy in schools.
