Tate & Lyle PLC announces today that Mr Robert Walker has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 January 2006.Robert Walker, aged 60, is currently Chairman of WH Smith PLC and Williams Lea Group Limited, and a Non-Executive Director of Wolseley Plc and Signet Group plc.
Robert Walker began his career in marketing at Procter & Gamble, then spent six years at McKinsey & Co. before joining PepsiCo International in 1976. He worked for PepsiCo Inc. for over 22 years, where he was a Division President responsible for the company’s beverage business in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. In May 1996 he joined the Board of Severn Trent Plc as a Non-Executive Director and then served as Chief Executive from August 2000 to February 2005.
