Sucralose Authorised for Sale in the United Kingdom

With effect from Friday 15 March 2002, sucralose – the no calorie sweetener made from sugar – has been authorised by the UK Food Standards Agency for use in foods and beverages throughout the UK*. This approval comes in advance of the more extensive European Union authorisation.

Under the Global Alliance announced on 26 September 2001, Tate & Lyle Sucralose is exclusive broker for the sales and marketing of the bulk food ingredient to UK food and beverage manufacturers. McNeil Nutritionals will market any tabletop consumer products in the UK that contain sucralose. No such products are currently available and information regarding these will be issued as appropriate. For more information contact:
