At Tate & Lyle, meeting consumers’ expectations is crucial. For our Food Technical Service teams, that means constantly watching consumer trends – such as the demand for high fibre – and providing our customers with the right ingredients for their products.
“We assist customers in formulating good-tasting products that deliver,” says Joni Simms, Research Fellow, Technical Service, Speciality Food Ingredients.
“For example, many foods that are identified on package as containing whole grains offer only one or two grams of fibre per serving, which is lower than consumers expect. With the successful formulation of our fibres into products like pasta, cereals, and snack crackers, the fibre content can double or triple, aligning with consumer expectations. These levels also allow manufacturers the opportunity to make fibre content claims such as ‘excellent source of fibre’”.

Technical Service also helps customers with beverages as well as foods. “Our fibres can also be added invisibly to clear beverages such as juices and flavoured water, helping consumers boost their fibre intake without sacrificing on the taste and texture of products that they know and love.”
